Dear PCHS Parents:
I hope you’ll consider running for our school council or encourage a friend to do so.
In Kentucky, each school has a School-Based Decision-Making Council (composed of the principal, elected teachers, and elected parents) in charge of making many of the most important decisions about how their school will operate. The council is a wonderful chance to learn about our school, work closely with teachers, and help make our school even more successful than it is now. Parents elect the parent members of the council. They receive training and will serve from July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2022.
Nominations are due by FRIDAY, APRIL 30. If you know someone who would be a good candidate, please encourage that person to run. You may nominate yourself or another parent.
The election period will be Monday, May 3, and Tuesday, May 4, 2021. If you will have a child enrolled at Powell County High School during the 2021 - 2022 school year, you are eligible to vote in this election. (This includes parents, stepparents, and foster parents. Legal guardians are also eligible to vote if the child lives in their home.) I urge every parent to participate in this important decision about the future of our children’s school.
Results will be announced on the school website.
