My name is Glynda Skidmore, I have been a Family Resource/Youth Services Center Coordinator since 1992.   I opened the first Family Resource Center at Bowen Elementary School in October 1992.  In March 2000, I became the Director of the Youth Services Center at Powell County High School.  

Our centers offer many programs throughout the year. Drug education and awarenesss, educational support, assistance with basic needs for students, health awareness/education  and transition programs and assistance are a few of those.

Goals

The goal of the Powell County High School Youth Services Center is to assist our students  in removing non-cognitive barriers to their academic achievement and success. Services are dependent upon the student's needs and resources avaiable in the local community

Student job skills training and counseling

Summer and part-time job development

Drug and Alcohol abuse education and awareness

All services of the Youth Services Center are available to any student of the school regardless of race, religion or income
