My name is Rusti-Lea Watson Neal.  I am a Powell County native & I graduated from PCHS in 1996.  I graduated from Morehead State University in 2001 with a BA in K-12 EBD/LBD & K-12 FMD. In 2006 I obtained a Master's Degree in Special Education.  I began my teaching career at Stanton Elementary where I held the position of EBD teacher for 6 years.  I transferred to PCHS 4 years ago.  It's difficult to put into words how I feel about teaching & the position that I teach.  It is a passion that is very dear to my heart.  Being a special education teacher is what I feel my purpose in this world is.  My goal as a teacher...just like many others, is to use effective teaching strategies that will help my students be successful.  However, above that common goal, a personal teaching goal of mine is to ensure my students know they are unique individuals with unique qualities & they CAN be successful at anything they set their minds to.  I strive daily to help each student gain self confidence & self know they have a voice that needs to be heard because they matter!  I believe if a student takes pride in who they are & knows they are worthy of an appropriate education,  learning is an innate gift that will follow, with my role being the facilitator. "Kids go where there is excitement, they stay where there is love."-Zig Zaglar

I would like to welcome my students back to Powell County High School for the 2010-2011 school year.  I am looking forward to a wonderful year of learning and working together. My goal as an educator is to effectively provide a positive learning environment that will encourage and enrich individual student strengths. I will also strive to ensure each student knows they are important and they CAN learn anything they dream of learning.  The sky really is the limit when it comes to learning.  One can never learn enough and learning is a process that continues throughout our lives...learning never ends!

Remember, the first day of school is Tuesday, August 10th!  SMILE!

"So, gently close the door on yesterday and throw the key away. It isn't the burdens of today that drive men mad, but rather the regret over yesterday and the fear of tomorrow. Regret and fear are twin thieves who would rob us of today."  -R. J. Hastings (The Station)
