Extended School Services
Extended School Services (ESS) are readily accessible at every school within the Powell County School District throughout each academic year via daytime waivers. This flexibility ensures that additional instructional time can be seamlessly integrated into the school day whenever required. Moreover, alongside daytime waivers, the Powell County School District will extend its support by providing a comprehensive summer school program tailored specifically for Powell County High School students seeking credit recoupment.
Emphasizing the significance of a high school diploma and instilling a sense of readiness for the future are both central objectives of our ESS high school program. By offering these vital services, we aim to empower students to achieve academic success and prepare them for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
The ESS program offers targeted support to students in the following areas:
- Students who require opportunities to improve their performance or are encountering challenges in specific content areas, with a particular emphasis on enhancing skills in reading, writing, and math.
- Students who are not meeting expected standards within the instructional program designed for their age group.
- Students who are identified as being at risk of grade retention, which could potentially impede their timely graduation or increase the likelihood of dropping out, unless they receive additional assistance and intervention.
